Books of Joy has developed several programs with the goal of furthering education for children in underserved communities. We continue growing our original program of building school libraries in Nepal. Books of Joy relies on the generous donations of individuals and businesses to build those libraries with the goal of inspiring the students’ love of reading. We also provide scholarships to students, through which we are able to give children an opportunity to advance their education which is often too costly for most families. These scholarships are crucial especially for female students who are at risk of dropping out of school due to societal pressure for early marriage, poverty and family responsibilities.
We continue to partner with local nonprofit organizations in Nepal, to reach children in rural villages and support their educational needs. We are focusing on driving these programs:
- Building school libraries
- Granting student scholarships
- Providing school and classroom supplies
- Enabling access to technology
- Providing teacher training
